Safety is a universal word that is often mentioned and used loosely. Communities large and small, as well as companies across all industries, are committed to it and take it seriously. Unfortunately, though, when it counts, steps to keep the public, workers, and loved ones safe are often ignored in the interest of expediency or convenience.
As we continue to navigate the impact of COVID-19, JOEMC will continue to make safety its NUMBER ONE priority. By implementing remote working procedures and closing our lobbies to walk-in traffic, we are doing our part to protect our communities while also making sure that key personnel is in place to continue operations and seamlessly provide you with high-quality service. Our member service representatives are available to assist you by phone and field personnel have implemented new scheduling and physical distancing practices as they persist in their steadfast efforts to maintain our critical infrastructure.
In our business, safety takes on another meaning, and it’s one that we practice every day. Our commitment to electrical safety is not empty talk. Over time, your cooperative has created a culture of safety by putting our employees’ safety and that of the community above all else. The essence of JOEMC’s mission is to provide safe, affordable, and reliable electricity to members. Equally important, however, is our commitment to ensure our employees return home safely to their loved ones every day. This requires ongoing focus, dedication, and vigilance in everything we do.
The safety of our employees is critical and they create value within our organization. Employees are our most valuable resource and how we protect them is indicative of our values and practices. The electrical industry presents many hazards; energized lines, heavy mechanical forces, and unpredictable working conditions. Mitigating these hazards through best industry practices and strategic job planning ensures that we are operating in the safest and efficient way possible.
As we build and maintain our power system, we consistently go beyond industry minimums and design with a heightened focus on public safety and workability. Further, our rigorous quality control and inspections programs identify areas of concern, which are then quickly addressed. As a result, our low-cost, reliable, and friendly service is delivered safely.
Finally, operating safely translates into cost savings for our members. When losses are minimized and we save on insurance premiums, we retain resources to re-invest in our power system. This supports both our reliability and our ability to keep rates at their lowest possible level.
We are grateful to be a part of your community and honored to provide electricity and services that power your life. Please remember, we are here for you, just as we always have been and always will be. We look forward to continuing to work together to meet our challenges with strength, determination, and unity.
