Just a reminder…as announced in last month’s newsletter, Jones-Onslow has begun a three-year project to transition all security and street lights to Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Crews will be working throughout our service territory changing out close to 19,000 existing outdoor lights to their new LED equivalents. All new security lights installed will be LED units and those members who contact the cooperative concerning a security light repair will have their existing light(s) changed out to the LED equivalent.

In addition to being more energy-efficient, LED lighting is more dependable and lasts longer than traditional lighting (reducing the cooperative’s
maintenance costs). They also provide a higher-quality, uniform, white light that enhances visibility and reduces light pollution.
“We’re excited about this project,” said Tommy Pritchard, JOEMC’s Chief Engineering Utility Officer. “This
is the latest technology in outdoor lighting and, with all the benefits, it’s a win-win for members and JOEMC.”
