Members who rely on electricity to power medical devices need to have a plan for outages, whether a backup generator with plenty of fuel or a plan to evacuate to a medical priority shelter or out of the area. We CANNOT guarantee continuous electric service during severe weather situations and power restoration efforts will take time and patience. We won’t know the extent of the damage until the storm passes but, rest assured, crews will start restoring electric service as soon as it is safe to do so.

PLEASE DO NOT REPORT OUTAGE OR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA. There are three ways to report power outages. First, call our automated phone system at (910) 353-1940 or (800) 682-1515. Next, go to joemc.com and look for REPORT AN OUTAGE on the left-hand side of the page. You must have the account number, meter number OR phone number associated with the account. Finally, through our Outage Text Alert Program. To learn more by going to joemc.com/reportingoutage.

UPDATE TO POST BELOW…
To clarify a post that was made early today concerning collections of past due electric bills and disconnection of electric service due to non-payment, JOEMC IS NOT waiving payment of electric bills for members this month. If your electric service was scheduled to be cut off this week for non-payment (failure to pay your bill), we are NOT turning your power off if you do not pay THIS week. You are still responsible to pay the bill and it will be due after the storm threat is over, probably sometime next week.

Out of concern for our members, we have decided to stop collections as well as disconnects for non-payment until further notice. Please stay weather aware and be sure you tune in to reliable, local information resources. JOEMC continues to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Dorian and is prepared to respond if outages occur.
