Call Before You Dig
Dial 811 or (800) 632-4949
Whether you are planning to do it yourself or hire a professional, smart digging means calling 811 before each job. Homeowners often make assumptions about the location of their utility lines but every job requires a call, including the planting of trees and shrubs. You only need to make one call to have all your utilities located.
If you hit an underground utility line while digging, you can harm yourself or others, disrupt service to the entire neighborhood and potentially be responsible for fines and repair costs.
North Carolina requires that you call two (2) working days prior to digging.
