Basketball Camp Scholarships Awarded
Congratulations goes out to two local middle school students who were recently selected as the recipients of Jones-Onslow’s scholarships to the Kay Yow and Roy Williams Basketball Camps taking place this summer.

Desiree Baxter
New Bridge Middle School

Brandon Monk
Southwest Middle School

Desiree Baxter will be attending the Kay Yow Camp while Brandon Monk will be going to the Roy Williams Camp.
Baxter is the daughter of Beverly Smith and attends New Bridge Middle School. She plays drums in the school band and enjoys singing in the youth choir at her church. Desiree plays guard on the New Bridge girls basketball team and was also honored with a leadership award.

Monk is the son of Rhonda and Bobby Holmes and attends Southwest Middle School. Participating in many sports, Brandon is also involved with the Boys and Girls Club of America and D.A.R.E. He was the school’s basketball manager in 6th grade and attended the 2006 Future Stars Basketball Camp.

The two recipients were selected through an essay contest available to students in sixth through eighth grades at schools in the cooperative’s service area. All essays were reviewed and judged by the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission.
