Jones-Onslow
is proud to announce support of a community outreach initiative that will send
one young woman and one young man to basketball camp this summer (the Kay Yow
Basketball Camp at N.C. State and Roy Williams Basketball Camp at UNC-Chapel
Hill).
These scholarships are provided through Jones-Onslow and the North Carolina
Association of Electric Cooperatives (NCAEC), the statewide organization that
serves Jones-Onslow and the other 26 electric cooperatives in the state.
The basketball camps offers young women and men the opportunity to learn from
some of the best instructors in the game. Participants will learn the importance
of teamwork while refining their basketball skills. Campers will also hear lectures
from various camp coaches and former players.
Applications and more information have been sent to area middle schools. Students
who are currently in the sixth through eighth grades are eligible to win the
scholarship. The winning applicant will be selected from an essay contest (all
applications are due back to Jones-Onslow by March 28, 2008).
